Banks Peninsula Sewer System
Council has sewage treatment plants at Lyttelton, Governors Bay, Diamond Harbour, Akaroa, Duvauchelles, Tikao Bay and the new subdivision in Wainui. The Lyttelton plant covers Lyttelton, Corsair Bay, Cass Bay and Rapaki areas.
At present all treated effluent is discharged to either Lyttelton or Akaroa harbours. The standard of this effluent is monitored by Council and Environment Canterbury to meet the resource consent conditions.
