Major Sewer Upgrade
The Christchurch City Council's Major Sewer Upgrade involves a number of large wastewater (sewer) projects over a 15 year period at a cost of approximately $89 million. These projects include a number of new wastewater pipelines, pump stations and pressure mains, and a wet weather wastewater storage facility.
The Major Sewer Upgrade is required to reduce the wet weather wastewater overflows into the City's rivers and allow for City growth.
The capacity of the upgraded wastewater system will match the capacity of the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Ocean Outfall.
