Real Recycling is a partnership between Christchurch City Council, Terra Nova, Waste Management and the Waimakariri District Council. Visit the Real Recycling website »

Real Recycling collects, sorts and finds markets for the recyclable items from households, at the kerbside, in the Christchurch City and Waimakariri District areas. This has been successful in diverting 16,000 tonnes of resources out of our landfill per annum.

Recycle bin covers

Recycling crates with bin covers will not be collected as part of the domestic kerbside collection service. Bin covers are not endorsed by the Council or Contractor Waste Management. Bin covers slow down the collection process as the removal of the cover adds an additional layer of complexity to collection. By covering crate contents, bin covers also increase the likelihood of non recyclable products being put into crates.

Recycling is easy to do and it:

  • conserves resources
  • protects the environment
  • reduces the need for landfills
