Agricultural Chemical Collection

What is an agrichemical collection?

The agricultural chemical collection, also known as the agrichemical collection, is a programme set up by the Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and the Ministry for the Environment to offer a free collection of old/unwanted agrichemicals to all rural landowners. This is to prevent stockpiling or inappropriate disposal of chemicals that could contaminate the environment.

Five collections were undertaken in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula, covering all of the rural and agricultural areas of the district. The next, and final, collection will be in March 2008. This will be your final opportunity to take advantage of the free service.

Collections for 2008 will commence in March 2008. If you are a rural landowner in Christchurch or Banks Peninsula with old or unwanted agrichemicals such as DDT, Lindane, Dieldrin, PCP (pentachlorophenol), herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, animal drenches and dips, animal remedies, and other agricultural chemicals, please register your interest now!

The deadline to register for this final collection is 28 January 2008.

This will be your last opportunity for a free on-farm collection of old or unwanted agrichemicals.
