Can you tell me about the Firefighters memorial to commemorate September 11?

The central city has an art work which has already become a landmark for the Christchurch public and visitors.

The process of the fabrication of the artwork from its origins is a facinating and exclusive story written by Rosa Sheils and published by the Community and Recreation Unit, Christchurch City Council.

The wide range of photographs taken during this process include the steel being loaded on to a truck in New York and many of the artists concept drawings which resulted in the art work.

This is a unique book showing a collection of photographs and stories describing the transport and transformation of steel from the World Trade Centre site, into the sculpture - A Tribute to Firefighters.

The book can be purchased by various different methods.

Location of Sculpture The sculpture can be viewed at the Corner of Madras & Kilmore Street in the city.
