Local neighbourhood parks are within walking distance of most residential areas and are great for a little bit of time out. In many of these parks you'll find playgrounds and plenty of open space. Some parks also have youth recreation facilities that will keep older brothers and sisters occupied.

But don't rely on playgrounds. Christchurch's natural areas offer the opportunity for children to use their imagination, go on adventures, and explore new places. In today's busy and commercial environment, parks provide an opportunity for natural play where kids can get dirty and accept new challenges.
