The Tors Reserve

The Tors Reserve and Castle Rock.

The reserve is a fine lookout point enjoyed by hikers and visitors to the Hills. The most attractive feature of this reserve is its setting in the tawny hills and volcanic bluffs so typical of this end of the Port Hills. It has rocky tussock covered slopes leading up from the Summit Road to the highest point and a steeper rockier slope with bluffs overlooking the Harbour. Naturally, excellent views can be obtained from the high vantage point.

These twin peaks were named The Tors by Harry Ell and were set aside as a reserve in 1911.
