Mount Pleasant Scenic Reserve

Mount Pleasant Scenic Reserve. |
At 499 metres with a road to the summit, Mount Pleasant is the highest point of the eastern Port Hills. Most of the reserve is tussock grassland. On the western side are some very large rugged bluffs, spilling over into the Lyttelton Reserve to the south. This reserve is extremely steep with many small bluffs and gullies, the bush surrounded by light scrub and hill pastures. Several rare filmy ferns on these bluffs are found in no other place on the Port Hills. There is also rich rock flora such as bright red and green lichens, which are very beautiful and quite unique. There is also about a hectare of remnant native bush as well as pines and exotic scrub, north east of the summit.
Access
Broadleaf Lane off Summit Road goes up Mt Pleasant (please close the gates).
The Mt Pleasant Bluffs Track can be accessed from the carpark located in the saddle between Mount Cavendish and Mount Pleasant on Summit Road.
