Moorhouse Statue
Location:
Botanic Gardens on reserve situated off Rolleston Avenue at end of Hereford Street.
Description:
Bronze statue on stone plinth of William Sefton Moorehouse, Superintendent of Canterbury responsible for construction of Lyttleton rail tunnel. Several inscriptions are carved into the stone.
Inscription reads:
Wm Sefton Moorhouse to whose energy and perseverance Canterbury owes the tunnel between the Port Hills and the Plains.
