Belfast Cemetery

A traditional cemetery with larger headstones and located in a rural setting, Belfast Cemetery opened in 1904. It was originally operated by the Belfast Cemetery Board and later by the Waimairi County Council. It was extensively redeveloped in 1985 as a garden cemetery with imaginative planting and layout, catering for upright and reclining memorials. Belfast also has special areas for children and ash interments and has a section used by the Orthodox Russian community.
