Assessment of Cemetery and Crematoria Services
Submissions closed Friday 12 November 2004.
The Council is currently assessing Cemetery and Crematoria services in Christchurch City. All councils in New Zealand are required to complete assessments of these services under the Local Government Act 2002.
The focus of the assessments is to ensure that public health will continue to be adequately protected in the District and that the services are able to meet current and future demands.
As part of the assessment, we are required to provide information on:
- The cemetery and crematoria services provided in the district
- A forecast of future demands for the services in the district
- Determine what needs to be done to meet future demands
- State the extent to which public health will be adequately protected
We are particularly interested in any comments on:
- Issues associated with the provision of cemeteries and crematoria within Christchurch City (both council and privately owned)
- Any concerns you may have concerning the protection of public health
- Any other issues you might like to be considered in the assessment
