What is in the Canterbury weed guide?
For most species covered there is:
- An identification guide, including a description of each
weed and lots of pictures.
- Information on how to tell some of the weeds apart from similar-looking
plants.
- Information on the current status of the species, such
as if it is covered by a pest management strategy.
- Some general guidance on control methods.
Also available within the guide is:
- A featured Weed of
the Month (and a link to previous editions).
- The Canterbury Potential Pest List - species not yet widespread
here. We would appreciate reports
of sightings.
- A Canterbury
Weed Calendar, which provides information on timing
for surveillance and control.
- A list of locally useful
references.
What is not in the Christchurch Weed Guide?
- Every single weed (suggested additions are welcome). These are
weeds in Canterbury, New Zealand (although of course many
weeds are also weeds in many other places too...)
- Detailed control methods, such as recommendations for particular
herbicides.
Please note that not all the plants identified here are a weed
in all situations.
