The Council has changed the way it communicates with its residents after feedback received on its publication, City Scene, in the LTCCP consultation process. It has also recognised that readership of the monthly tabloid publication, which was delivered free to every household, was falling.
The Council has now introduced a new initiative to get Council news out to residents. It is called Our Christchurch and it has a regular slot on page two of The Star midweek newspaper. This page will focus on giving residents timely, local information. As well, it will run public notices.
Starting from Saturday 28 October 2006, a monthly page, also titled Our Christchurch, will be introduced in the Saturday edition of The Press. The same material will be reproduced in a two-page spread in the following week's Christchurch Mail and it will also appear in the Akaroa Mail, again on a monthly basis. These pages will provide residents with coverage of key city issues.
