- Malls are covered shopping areas that contain a variety of shops. The largest malls are South City, The Palms, Riccarton, Eastgate and Northlands.
- The Central City has a wide range of shops, including department stores.
- Goods can also be purchased second-hand. Find in secondhand dealers.
- You can find fresh vegetables, second-hand goods and crafts at the local markets; Riccarton Market (Riccarton Racecourse, Sundays 9am - 2pm) is the largest.
