Cowles Stadium

Indoor Stadium

Cowles stadium is currently closed due to earthquake damage
Purpose built standalone indoor stadium with 1400 square feet of sprung timber floor. This stadium has 500 permanent stand seats, with additional seating for up to 1800. There are two electronic scoreboards, and phone, faxes & office space are available. Large free carpark. Adjacent to Cuthberts Green.
Monday - Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm or by arrangement

Graham Condon Recreation & Sport Centre

25 Metre Pool

This 8 lane, ramped 25 metre pool is graduated from 1.2 - 1.8m. It has space for lane swimming and aquajogging with a normal water temperature of 28 degrees Celsius.

Fitness Centre

A new fitness centre that has been equipped with the latest fitness equipment. Intergrated TV screens, full range of strength equipment, free weights & designated assessment room.
Our friendly staff are always on hand to answer any questions you may have & assist with how to use any of our equipment.

Spa

The spa pool found inside Graham Condon will help you unwind and relax. Located in the main indoor pool complex, the spa is fully accessible with ramped access.

Sport Hall 1

The new Sports Hall opened on Monday 23rd May. It is used during the day by Papanui High School, but is available to community groups to hire in the evenings and weekends.

The hall can be used for sports such as basketball, netball and volleyball and features the innovative Decoflex rubber flooring.

Community groups wishing to book space in the new Sports Hall can contact us now by phoning 941 6888.

Sport Hall 2

Attached to the new Graham Condon Sports Hall, the existing Papanui High School Sports Hall is also available for casual bookings.

It has 1 basketball court sized area capable of holding 4 badminton courts.

Toddlers Pool

This shallow indoor pool is designed especially for toddlers. It includes a wet deck with water toys.

A 7 lane 33.3 metre pool. Depth 0.9 - 1.4m.

Hydroslide

Halswell Aquatic Centre (along with Jellie Park Recreation and Sports Centre, and Waltham Lido Pool) each boast an outdoor hydrosliding experience for those hot summer months.

A small round pool for toddlers, approximately 0.5m in depth.

Jellie Park Recreation & Sport Centre

25 Metre Recreation Pool

This 8 lane, 25 metre pool is graduated from 1.0 - 1.4 metres in depth. It has space available for recreational and lane swimming, and a normal water temperature 28.5 degrees Celsius.

25 Metre Sport Pool

This 8 lane swimming pool is 25 metres in length, and 2.0 metres in depth for the full length of the pool. It has space for aquajogging, and is ideal for those who prefer to swim in deep water. Normal water temperature is 27 degrees Celsius.

50 Metre Outdoor Pool

A 50 metre outdoor lido style pool open over the Summer period, with 7 Lanes and a shallow beach area. It is graduated in depth from 0 metres at the beach though to 1.4 metres in the laned area. Normal water temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, but varies slightly due to weather conditions.

Group Fitness Studio

Indoor sprung wooden floor with sound system. Suitable for group exercise classes, Yoga, Gentle Exercise and childrens recreation programmes.

The indoor hydroslide operates all year round, and is joined by its outdoor siblings in the summer months - for those who are up to the challenge!

Outdoor Dive Well

This 3.0 metres deep outdoor dive well is attached to the 50 metre outdoor pool. It has both 1.0 metre and 3.0 metre springboards. Suitable for people over the age of 8 years who are competent swimmers in deep water.

Outdoor Hydroslides

Jellie Park offers you the best of both worlds during Summer with a medley of outdoor slides to join their indoor sibling and compliment their fantastic outdoor aquatic setting. The outdoor slides include 2 speed chutes alongside the winding half tube.

Spa, Sauna & Steam room

Sauna, steam room and spa pool can all be found inside at Jellie Park, to help you unwind and relax. A small kidney shaped spa with a jet pump and air blower, located in the main indoor pools complex. The spa is 1.0 metre deep, with a normal water temperature of 39 degrees Celsius.

Teaching Pool

This shallow indoor teaching pool is designed especially for younger children to practice their skills and have fun in a shallow environment. It is 15 metres in length and 0.8 metres deep with a normal water temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.
Access is often limited due to swim lessons and school use.

Toddlers' Pool

A small oblong shaped indoor pool with water features including a water curtain, water fall and fountain. The pool has two areas, a raised beach area which drops off to a maximum depth of .265m, and a lower pool of .7m in depth. Normal water temperature is 32 degrees Celsius.

Lyttelton Norman Kirk Memorial Pool

25 Metre Pool

Outdoor 6 lane 25 metre pool. The pool varies in depth from 0.9 - 1.4 metres.

Lyttelton Recreation Centre

Lyttelton Indoor Stadium

The Lyttelton Recreation Centre is currently closed until further notice
This stadium is marked out for one basketball court, two badminton courts and one volleyball court.
Also suitable for indoor football, indoor bowls, large assemblies, dances etc. Changing and showering facilities are included.
Monday - Thursday, 8:30am - 9:30pm
Friday 8:30am - 8:00pm.
Weekend bookings by arrangement.

Lyttelton Meeting Room

The Lyttelton Recreation Centre is currently closed until further notice
A large carpeted room inside the recreation centre. The room includes tea making facilities and whiteboards. Suitable for a maximum of 30 people. Chairs & tables are available.
Available for booking by arrangment.

Lyttelton Trinity Hall

The Lyttelton Recreation Centre is currently closed until further notice
A room with a beautiful rimu floor, kitchen and stage. Suitable for drama, birthday celebrations, dances and large meetings (for 50 or more people).
Available for booking by arrangement.

Pioneer Recreation & Sport Centre

25 Metre Pool

This 5 lane, 25 metre lap pool is graduated in depth from 1.1 to 1.5 metres. As well as lane swimming, the pool is used for Aqua classes, Swim squad and SwimSmart, which can take available lanes. Please see our Notices page for specific lane availability. Standard pool temperature is 27.5 degrees Celsius.

Group Fitness Studio

A premium group fitness room with sprung wooden floor overlooking the pool area.

Indoor Stadium

A fully equipped indoor stadium featuring a 2150 square metre sprung wooden floor, and a 12.5 metre ceiling. It has portable seating for up to 540 people, a first aid room and is configured for 3 basketball courts, 3 netball courts, 6 volleyball courts and 12 badminton courts. The stadium is available for hire, along with meeting rooms, lounge and a kitchen.
Open year around.

Leisure Pool

This 20 metre by 20 metre wave pool is great fun for kids of all ages. Experience the thrill and excitement of the lazy river, bubble pit and fountains. Ride the waves. The waves run approximately ten minutes on and ten minutes off. The pool's depth is graduated from 0.0 to 1.5 metres, and the water temperature is 31.5 - 32.0 degrees Celsius. Sauna, Steam and Spa pools are all poolside, to help you unwind and relax. The waves operate weekdays from 5.30pm - 9.00pm, Saturday 2.00pm - 7.30pm, Sundays and publid holidays 11:00am - 7.30pm.

Spa, Sauna & Steam room

Sauna, Steam Room and Spa pool can all be found poolside in the Pioneer Pool area, to help you unwind and relax. The 1.2 metre deep spa pool fits up to 20 people, and operates at 39 degrees Celsius. It also has an Aqua lift to assist patrons who may have difficulty using the steps. Great for sports recovery.

Spin Studio

This purpose built airconditioned spin studio features 22 of the latest Tomahawk spin cycles. Spin is the perfect low impact results based class for non aerobics users to elite cyclists. It is a great cardiovascular workout with each individual working to their own level. It is great for weight loss, toning and to increase your fitness levels.

Teaching Pool

This 16-metre, four-lane, 32 degree Celsius training pool is designed especially for the Learn to Swim programme, where children can practice their skills in a shallow environment. It is a dual-depth pool: its water level can be changed from 0.75 metres to 1 metre in a short space of time, depending on the children’s needs. The facility also includes changing rooms, toilets and a shower.

Professional and fully qualified staff are on hand to provide you with your very own personal programme and then update that programme within a 12 week period. Our gym floors are fully monitored for your safety and our friendly staff can answer any questions you may have.
Monday to Thursday 6.00am - 9.00pm. Friday 6.00am - 6.00pm.
Weekends and public holidays 8.00am - 2.00pm.
Open year around except Christmas day.
