Summer Highlights

What to see and enjoy in the Botanic Gardens during the summer months:
Annual bedding plant displays – a colourful variety of summer flowering plants.

Herbaceous Border – summer flowering herbaceous perennials.
Monarch Butterflies can be spotted resting in the trees along the Archery Lawn.
Herb Garden – an extensive collection of aromatic, culinary, dyeing and medicinal herbs.
Dahlia Border – a wide selection of dahlia cultivars.
Sit and listen to the Cicadas serenade
Central Rose Garden – a fine collection of modern garden roses.
Townend House – the Tuberous Begonias display attracts visitors from around the world (January/February).
Orchid House – a changing grouping of orchids and carnivorous plants.
Maple Border – a wide selection of hydrangeas in bloom.
Rock Garden - summer flowering rock garden plants.
New Zealand Garden – an extensive collection of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and climbers.
Water Garden – lots of water-loving perennials including water lilies and Christmas lilies.
