Banks Peninsula Christchurch Amalgamation 2006
Banks Peninsula / Christchurch Amalgamation 2006

Banks Peninsula and Christchurch City Councils were amalgamated on 6 March, 2006.

This page has been created to help Banks Peninsula residents with any questions they may have about how the joining of the two Councils will effect them. You will also find on this page links to policies and bylaws previously found on the Banks Peninsula website which has now been taken down.

The amalgamation of Banks Peninsula and Christchurch City Councils will not effect any services that residents on the peninsula currently receive - rates, rubbish collection and library memberships will remain unchanged.

Current Banks Peninsula District Council (BPDC) fees and charges will also remain in place from 6 March 2006 until 30 June 2006. From 1 July 2006, Christchurch City Council fees and charges will apply.

As well, current BPDC bylaws and policies will remain in force until a review is undertaken of the CCC and BPDC bylaws and policies by the Christchurch City Council.

The current BPDC Proposed District Plan will also remain in force.
