  • Always keeping their dogs under control. Remember that even in places where you are not required to have your dog on a leash, you must still carry a leash.

  • Making sure their dogs are not impounded, chased or returned home by the Council.
  • That there have been no justified complaints about their dogs.
  • That they have not been prosecuted for any dog related offence or received any infringement notices regarding their dogs.
  • That they let the Council know quickly about any changes to their dog ownership, eg. new dogs, dogs gone, death of dog, or changes of address.
  • That they have a fully fenced and gated property, and have a dog free access to the house.
  • That if they have more than one dog on their property, they apply for a Two or More Dog Licence as required by the Council. Not required for Banks Peninsula Ward.
  • That they are aware of what is required of them as a dog owner by the Dog Control Act 1996.
  • That they pick up after their dogs and dispose of any "doggy-doos" in a suitable refuse container.
