Planting events in May and June 2012

The Christchurch City Council will hold a number of replanting and plant restoration events at parks around the city in May and June 2012.

The replanting event on 10 June at South New Brighton Park is to replace the earthquake damaged mature trees which were removed late last year. The replanting will occur in and around the stumps of the felled trees. This event was made possible due to a donation from the Auckland Council.

The restoration planting events at Marleys Hill, Dry Bush and Charlesworth Wetland Reserve are part of the Council’s ongoing parks plant restoration programmes.

These events coincide with Arbor Day and World Environment Day on Tuesday 5 June 2012.

Planting events are for people of all ages. Bring along gloves, gumboots and a shovel. Check the weather report before you leave home and bring along warm or wet-weather clothing if required.
