Ellerslie International Flower Show is an internationally renowned flower show which has been held since 1994.
Ellerslie International Flower Show was originally held in Auckland, Christchurch purchasing the show for an undisclosed sum in 2007.
The first Ellerslie International Flower Show was hosted by Christchurch in North Hagley Park from 11 to 15 March 2009.
Christchurch has joined an elite group of world-wide cities hosting an international garden show.
Ellerslie International Flower Show is one of the two annual icon events for Christchurch (the other is New Zealand Cup and Show Week held in November).
Ellerslie International Flower Show is the perfect fit for Christchurch being New Zealand’s Garden City. It will help to enhance the city’s image.
The Ellerslie International Flower Show also celebrates Christchurch’s heritage and culture.
The 2011 show was cancelled following the destruction caused in Christchurch by the 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
The next Ellerslie International Flower Show, presented by Egmont Seed Co, will be held in North Hagley Park from 7 to 11 March 2012.
More than a quarter of a million plants will be on display at Ellerslie in 2012, with a strong focus on flowers and colour.
While there is no theme for the Show, many of the 40 gardens are expected to be a reflection of Christchurch, past and future.
