There’s no stopping this year’s TV2KidsFest which is going ahead in July with an extra special theme of ‘Celebrating Community’.
TV2KidsFest is taking place between 16 and 30 July with heaps of events in Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Selwyn and Waimakariri districts.
It’s time to kick up our heels, grab the kids, and inject some fun into the community with the 20th celebration of our annual winter school holiday festival.
Each year around 75,000 participants take part so join us and find out why TV2KidsFest has become New Zealand’s biggest and longest-running annual children’s festival.
Cool facts about TV2KidsFest
• KidsFest started in 1992 and evolved out of the successful Kids Market which was first held in Cathedral Square in 1990.
• The first KidsFest was made up of 54 events and promoted to 50,000 children.
• Today, KidsFest hosts hundreds of fantastic events to entertain over 75,000 children from all over Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, Selwyn and Waimakariri districts.
• In 1996, CoolStuff, our fun-loving mascot, arrived on the scene and is still here bringing smiles to the faces of young and old.
• KidsFest (and CoolStuff) is so famous, loads of kids from other parts of New Zealand and even Australia travel to Christchurch to make KidsFest part of their winter school holidays
Extra Cool things to enjoy at the 2011 TV2KidsFest
• Celebrate the official opening of the festival at the ‘Light and Flight’ Breeze Lantern Parade with entertainment for the whole family.
• The Press Dogs Day Out ensures even the four legged canine member of your family is not left out of the celebrations with a fun day for pet pooches.
• Dust off your singing voice, fine tune your fancy footwork or show us your special talent in the Singapore Airline’s StarFest.
• CoolStuff’s Variety Show takes to the suburbs in community venues around Christchurch with clowns, magic, music and dance.
• Bikes4Fun returns with whacky bikes for children of all ages to try their hand at riding (or legs for that matter).
The KidsFest Dome in North Hagley Park will be the focal point this year hosting Science Alive!, Circus Symphony, The Kids Market and more.
