Meeting rooms for hire

Situated in Christchurch City Council’s former Municipal Chambers, rooms within the beautiful and historic building Our City O-Tautahi are available for you to enjoy for your function.

Venue Hire is unavailable at Our City O-Tautahi until further notice. Please contact tamara.bisseker@ccc.govt.nz if you have any queries or require any further information.

The Our City O-Tautahi building is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust Pohere Taonga as a Category 1 Historic Place in recognition of its exceptional historical significance and architectural quality.

Our City O-Tautahi meeting rooms comprise two rooms, the Debating Chamber and the Library, and are available for hire.

Exhibition Gallery space for hire

The debating chamber

The former 1887 debating chamber is still in its original condition. This room is perfect for lectures, meetings, debates and functions - may this room once again echo with the sounds of public discussion.

The chamber can accommodate up to 130 people standing or up to 100 people theatre style.

Cost is $153.33 (GST incl) for the initial three hours and $30.67 (GST incl) per hour for subsequent hours each day.

The Library

This gracious room with a south facing balcony was originally used as the Councillors' library, from which important announcements were made by Mayors in the Victorian and early Edwardian period.

This room can accommodate up to 20 people, or 15 to 18 people seated at tables.

Cost is $50.11 (GST incl) for the initial three hours, and $15.33 (GST incl) per hour for subsequent hours each day.

Security

For functions outside public hours security will be arranged by Our City O-Tautahi, to ensure that only those invited have access during the period of hire.

Costs associated with security are $25.56 per hour (inclusive of GST). Please remember to include any pre-event organisational time you may need when calculating your booking and security times.

Catering

Our City is able to provide morning and afternoon tea for a maximum of 50 people on request within office hours. Prices for our tea and coffee packages range from $2.56 to $5.11 (GST incl) per person.

Orders are to be made by the client and invoices are to be sent directly to the client.

Equipment that can be provided by Our City O-Tautahi free of charge:

  • lectern
  • whiteboard (2)
  • overhead projector
  • screens (2)
  • seating for 100 pax
  • trestles (10).

Parking

Visit the Council's parking information for parking buildings in the city.

For unloading at Our City there are three 5 minute parking spaces outside the building on Oxford Terrace, opposite Rydges Hotel. If you will need to unload for a longer period of time, please contact us. Our City will not be responsible for any parking fines incurred.
