Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 122 Avonside Drive

The foundation stone of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Avonside, was laid on 28 October 1874, according to the designs of Benjamin W. Mountfort.

Church of the Most Holy Trinity.

Scope of work
This grant application focused on roof repairs. The roof of the transept was clad in slate and upon closer inspection of its condition, it was evident that many of the slates needed replacement. The flashing and brittle ridge plates also needed to be replaced.

Outcome
The roof repairs were undertaken in 1997. This work required skilled trades people to reconstruct elements no longer available. To undertake the repairs, scaffolding was required. This was a significant cost in comparison to the overall works. However, keeping the roof watertight and in good condition is one of the most critical areas of any building.
